Above & Beyond Entertainment looking dapper at an elegant affair

Why should I choose Above & Beyond?
Above & Beyond prides itself on being a well-rounded, highly creative, organization that clients rave about—both for its first-rate talent and its unmatched professionalism. Built from the ground up by two self-starter entertainers who culled their experience from a wide variety of respected entertainment companies, A & B doesn't offer "canned" entertainment or "by-the-book" services—instead it responds to the needs and desires of the crowd, ensuring your guests the time of their lives.

How do you prepare for an event?

Great Music and fun is essential for any event
  • Once we know the type of event you're having and you choose the accessories you'd like, we make sure we're well prepared before the big day.
  • On the day of the party, three to four hours before it starts, A & B entertainers will pick up the equipment and other essentials they need—all of which are specially marked and set aside in our facility—and triple-check everything against a checklist.
  • The entertainers are required to arrive one hour before the event begins. During that hour, they set up and ensure everything is ready before the guests arrive.
  • Once the party starts, they're instructed to follow the desires of the host and will do everything possible to make sure guests enjoy themselves.
  • At the conclusion of the party, they'll bid farewell to the guests, check in with the host to make sure everything was up to par and then break down the equipment, waiting for the appropriate time to load it into vehicles.

How do you work around meals and plan for special activities?
During any normal four-hour party, there is usually a food course, be it hors d'oeuvres, a buffet or a full three-to-five course sit-down dinner. When the entertainers arrive to set up, they'll communicate with the event host and facility event planner to confirm the food-service arrangements and ask about special activities that may require A & B's participation. Once these logistics are finalized, A & B will take it from there, working side by side with the host to run a first-class affair.

A crowded dancefloor at an Above & Beyond Entertainment event. Why do I need a D.J. and an M.C.?
In reality, you don't need anything more than a boom box and a couple of CDs. But to make your party ultra special—and to take the entertainment pressure off the host so he/she can mingle with guests—enlisting professionals who can make your party rock is the way to go. A D.J./M.C. team is your best option. That way, the M.C. can entertain your guests, while the D.J. mixes music. Nobody wants the M.C. running back and forth between the party and the D.J. booth. With two professionals overseeing two distinct roles, you're ensured a smooth-running, highly entertaining affair. Plus, don't forget to choose your party enhancements, which will truly make your party a memorable one.

16 Candle Lighting Ceremony How important is the candle-lighting ceremony at my daughter's
Sweet 16 party?

The candle ceremony is purely optional.
Since it is your daughter's special day, ask her if she wants to include it or not. If she does choose to have the ceremony, we require the song list two weeks prior to the event date. If you would like more information about the candle ceremony, please call us at 732-288-1190 and we can tell you all about it!

What if there is a song that MUST be played?
Let us know at least one week prior to the event if you have any special music requirements, so we can make sure we have it in—or can add it to—our library of songs.

Do I give a gratuity to the entertainer(s), and if so, how much?
If you were pleased with the service you received, it is customary to give gratuities. Most people give 10 percent of the total bill to their entertainer(s).

What will the entertainer(s) be wearing?
When we book your event, we generally ask what you'd like the entertainers to wear. If for some reason we don't discuss it in person, there's a section in the contract that lets you indicate what kind of attire is appropriate for your event.

When should I book my event?
As soon as you know the date of your party, you can book with us. We have clients who reserve anywhere from six months to two years in advance. Many brides-to-be enjoy the peace of mind of knowing their wedding entertainment is taken care of. We don't recommend booking at the last minute, because we may not be available—but give us a call regardless in case we get a cancellation or free up at the last minute.

How do I hold my date and "book" with you?
When you request to book an event with Above & Beyond, we send a packet to you through the mail which includes your contract. Your contract states the required deposit amount and the date on which it’s due. Once we receive your deposit on or before that specified date, we can secure your desired
event date.
